Last year the British Love Grocer band built around the legendary Zion Train wind section had a concert for the first time in Győr. It was when the idea of the MEDIAWAVE Raggea Workshop came up to the organisers who managed to persuade a band of young musicians from Győr to join the workshop.

The music section of the MEDIAWAVE Festival opened the event at Saturday night with two performances different in character and intensity. Before the official opening ceremony, in the University Concert Hall (former Synagogue), the Cuban Omar Sosa Trio played high level, correct latin jazz and after the Parallel Culture Award ceremony the Astillero from Argentina showed again what the 21st century fiery, turbulent tango should be like.

26 April, PICNIC DAY with several open-air concerts, theatres and funny events. The competition and other film programmes will run in the cinema halls.

Oscar winner editor Alan Heim and one of the most famous cinematographers Vivi Drâgan Vasile come to give a lecture at Passport Control Film Workshop. Among the lecturers several other world famous artist from all over Europe.

Competition Films of MEDIAWAVE, similarly to the previous years, will to be assessed by high appreciated jury members.
Members of feature film and international juries, such as the Academy awarded American editor, the Golden Palm of Cannes awarded Hungarian director, the famous British animator – awarded several times for his sarcastic humour –, the multiple times awarded Bulgarian documentary film director, the famous Hungarian actress and the great Romanian cinematographer come from five countries and different areas of film industry.
Three members of Student Jury will also award one of the films.

Two Greek filmmakers will come to this year's Passport Controll - Summer Art Workshops and Community Gathering, to lead film workshop for students. Film director Karina Logothetis and sound designer Vasilis Zlatanos won the award for the Most Original Short Film at the 33rd edition of the Mediawave Film Festival this year, with their short fiction Pebble.
