The audience can vote for the films of the 3rd ON THE ROAD Online Film Competition between 1 - 31 March. The films can be watched on the On The Road website until 27 April, the beginning of the MEDIAWAVE Gathering.
Forty six films - short fiction, documentary, experimental, dance and animation movies - from different parts of the world can be watched in this program with English subtitles. This time the films of the On The Road competition are categorised not by genres but by the following five themes:
Films in "Fights and Struggles" category deal with war situations and young people's struggles in everyday life.
The"Female Roads" reveal different women's ways including relationships, carreer, illness or women in minority groups.
Under "In Transit" title you can watch movies about people travelling every day to earn their living or just because they are chased by quriosity to discover new places. Some simply must wander to find a new country as the old one is impossible to live in.
"Home Sweet Home" does not require too much explanation. Chinese mountain people, a disabled Turkish worker, two remaining inhabtitants of a Georgian mountain village and ethiop musicians live their everyday lives in their home countries.
"You Never Know". What the future brings. The films in this category are about the mystery of the future that you can never get to know in advance.
It is important to note, that the Online International Film Competition is different from the 'classic' MEDIAWAVE International Film Competition. There are a couple of films to be shown in both competitions and this is indicated on the film site.
The winner works can be watched in the screening rooms of the Fort Monostor, Komárom at the regular MEDIAWAVE Film Festival between 27 April and 1 May, 2016.
