Brudina
Romania
Director: Dragos HANCIU
17 min. 2014,
with dialogue, Romanian, English subtitled

Brudina is the local term of the ferry bridge used by the people near Mures river as an short alternative link between the villages Pricaz and Folt. Romania has still a lot to catch up regarding infrastructure, but a new highway was built 500m away from the ferry bridge. I think that the fact that people are still using this way to get on the other side of the river speaks by itself about the mentality and the rhythm of people, almost ignoring modernization as if time has frozen. Brudina is a film -essay- about speaking about isolation and solitude, love and destiny, time and death. Inspired by Charon and the Styx Brudina is presenting a “micro-universe” through a perpetual cycle introducing Evi and Stelică as protagonists.

Major screenings, presentations:
  • Cinemaiubit International Student Film Festival, Bucharest 2014
