The animation is completely handmade, consists of 1,250 drawings on paper with oil paints. The work expresses the perception of paralyzing silence between two people where they seem to stop, waiting for a body or in the memory of it. Waiting for something that never comes. The contradiction of a woman who escapes and chases herself. The images denounce the suffering of a cultural isolation suffocated between the echoes and obsessive reproductions of the past. Through various combinations of voices, memories of people, the female figure exudes a restless memory oscillating between dream and reality where at the end she finds herself as a child, as an innocent memory of a brutal past perhaps never existed.
Pietro ELISEI
My name is Pietro Elisei. I was born on the morning of 30th December in 1989 in Spoleto, a small town surronded by the Umbrian hills, in the middle of Italy. I'm grown up by my mother and my two older brothers. After an inappropriate high school, I run away from Spoleto to relocate myself in Urbino, where for two years I dedicate all my time to drawing and traditional animation, passion that I had since I was a child. With two-year diploma of specialization in traditional animation (not recognized by the Government) I try to assert my work in Italy, but the results are just "you are very good."
I like to draw, people say I’m good. Opinions of others or not, since the two years in Urbino, I'm looking for a way to tell something inside me. There are tiny details, sensations, gestures, looks, so pure and simple that they seems insignificant; but for me these are the clearest memories that link me to things and people. There are little things that are hidden in everyday life making the ordinary memorable, a sculpture of the time. The shapes of the color in the eyes of my woman or the silence of the rooms in the morning, before breakfast: this is what I would tell.
