An intense documentary where we get to follow four individuals, two women and two men, from the poor regions of south Teheran, Iran.
They share with us their stories of how it is to live in a neighborhood where HIV and drug addiction is far more prevalent than in other parts of Teheran.
Parallel to this, we also get to hear from four medical and social experts who talk about HIV/AIDS, their experiences with addicts and HIV-positive individuals in a chaotic society.
Yasseman TOURANG
Yasseman Tourang was born In southern Iran. She studied drama, art and literature in Aix -en- Provence in southern France. She has PhD in drama and has worked as a university teacher, researcher and filmmaker in Iran, France and Sweden. She was first assistant director on Alain Ughettos animation film L´Echelle ( The Ladder) awarded “Perspectives du cinema français” in Cannes 1981. Presently, she is working on several documentaries in Sweden, Iran and France. ”Behind the Walls of Silence" is the seventh of these to be released.
Yasseman Tourang was Head of the Women Film Festival in Uppsala-Sweden.

Two Greek filmmakers will come to this year's Passport Controll - Summer Art Workshops and Community Gathering, to lead film workshop for students. Film director Karina Logothetis and sound designer Vasilis Zlatanos won the award for the Most Original Short Film at the 33rd edition of the Mediawave Film Festival this year, with their short fiction Pebble.
