In 1996, in the attic of a Budapest house, old film tapes were found. The people who found them did not know much about the origins of the films. They only remembered their father, who had already died, got these film tapes from a colleague during World War II. Later it turned out that a colleague, who had been deported, was a talented amateur filmmaker. The film collection is his legacy, his name is Richárd Deutsch.

The filmmaker’s family that lived in the twenties and thirties had not been found for decades. Twenty years later a man came up who suspected the movies had been made by his grandfather. But beyond his name, he did not know anything about him. It became obvious that he sees his relatives on the films when she recognized her mother as a little girl. The mother whose silence has blocked the grandfather’s and the entire family’s history for seven decades.

Despite the mother’s silence, the grandfather's secret was revealed. An exciting investigation can be witnessed by the viewer, who will learn about the history of the 20th century Jewish family in Budapest with the help of the digital archives. The film tapes show the members of the family never were talked about, and the grandson gets as close to his roots as if he knew his lost grandfather.
