Daniel de Vicente

Daniel de Vicente is a 27 year-old writer, director and producer. He was born in Madrid in 1990 and has a degree in Journalism from the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Universidad Complutense. At the age of 16, he wrote his first book entitled 'Escribir para vivir' (Ediciones Atlantis, 2011), comprised of 15 short stories that he published to great success. The writer and journalist Rosa Montero said: I read them and liked them. What's more, I was impressed by how young he was. A few stories from the beginning of life, during the age of innocence, during adolescence, but full of future and talent. At the age of 22 he published 'Cordón Umbilical' (Ediciones Antígona, 2012), his first theatre play and his premiere as a director and producer showed in the Sala Triángulo and later in the Teatro Lara of Madrid. It was widely acclaimed by the national press, which assured we did not expect such meticulous direction from a debutant, with such atmosphere and, above all, such fluidity, rhythm in the dialogues and, in general, a structure that many veterans would aspire to have (20 minutos, Raquel Gómez). Due to the success of his first theatre play, which went from the independent stage to a commercial theatre thanks to the excellent reviews, he began to work as an assistant director for prestigious directors and playwrights such as Miguel del Arco ('Misántropo', premiered with the Kamikace company in the Teatro Espańol), David Serrano (in 'Las venus de las pieles', with Clara Lago and Diego Martín, in the Matadero of Madrid, and in 'Lluvia constante', with Roberto Álamo and Sergio Peris Mencheta, in the Teatros del Canal), José Pascual, (in 'Aquiles, el hombre', premiered at the Festival of Mérida) and Toni Cantó (in 'Debate', premiered at the Teatros del Canal). He worked as director of production for the films 'Las heridas del viento', written and directed by Juan Carlos Rubio and starring Kiti Mánver and Dani Muriel, and the documentary 'Murillo, el último viaje', written and directed by José Manuel Gómez Vidal. He has also worked as a cultural manager and press officer at the International Festival of Classical Theater in Almagro, the WOMAD Festival in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Cáceres, the Music Awards and the Max Awards, as well as at the production companies Pentacion, Focus and TalyCual. He makes his debut in the cinema with his debut film 'Paraíso Azul', a short film that he has written, directed and produced and which stars Álvaro Cervantes, Roberto Álamo, Antonio Dechent, Francesc Colomer and Diana Tobar.
