BÁRSONY JÚLIA

(1975, Budapest)

alternative actress, director, teacher

Artistic director of MÜSZI, a cultural community place in Budapest. She has a show in Radio Tilos, has a theatre company, teaches at MOME and was a significant character of the underground theatre life in Budapest: „MÜSZI can be described with four words: community, freedom, acceptance and independence. The place is maintained by civilians, who ensure the existence of the community itself.”
 

BUGLYA SÁNDOR

(1945, Újkécske)

film director, cinematographer

He graduated at the Semmelweis Medical University and at the Film and Theatre University, Budapest as director and cinematographer. President of Dunatáj Alapítvány (Danube Region Foundation). He is a professor at SAPIENTIA Hungarian University of Transylvania – Cluj Napoca (RO), Department of Film and Media Studies; has lectured on visual language, cinematography, film directing, dramaturgy. Since 1965 he has made films as director and cinematographer and produced over 350 films.
He was awarded with prestigious prizes like Csokonai and Béla Balázs Awards as well as several festival prizes.
 

 DÖBREI DÉNES

(1961, Horgos, Yugoslavia)

actor, dancer, choreographer

 

1980-1984: graduated as an actor at the Art Academy in Novi Sad. 1984-1989: member of the theatre in Subbotica. In 1986, they established the Summer Movie Theatre Community with director István Lálity. Since 1989, he has been been the member of Theatre JEL, and later the National Choreography Centre of Orleans. Many roles and theatre plays relate to his name, both as choreographer and actor. Awards: 1985 – Gondviselés (director: Erdőss Pál) – Best Actor Prize at the Rio de Janeiro Film Festival, 1998 – Szél a zsákban (Theater JEL, director-choreographer: Nagy József) – Best Dancer Prize at MESS Festival in Sarajevo, 2007 – Csáth Géza: Emma (Subbotica Theatre; director: Fekete Péter) – Sterija Prize for Best Choreographer at Sterija Festival in Novi Sad
 

ÉCSI GYÖNGYI

(1965, Vágsellye, Slovakia)

singer, puppet actress, priest

Studying journalism for 5 years, she eventually did not graduate. She had lived and collected folk songs in Gömör for 7 years and chose an other way of community building: graduated and has worked as a Clavinist priest and travelled around the world as a performer and singer.
 

SZABÓ SZILÁRD

(1956, Budapest)

folk dancer, teacher, choreographer

Started his dance carreer at the age of 15. Ha actively joined the dance house movement as a dancer and teacher. In 1977, he received the Master of Folk Art Award. Since 1984, he has led the Martonvásári Dance Ensemble together with his wife. He has worked as a teacher and choreographer in several professional dance groups. For five years, they ride their horses around the country to preserve traditions and revive the village communities

(1957, Budapest)

Director of Liget Gallery. Fine artist, curator of exhibitions and art critic. He realises progressive and at the same time politically and socially radical programs including non-mainstream, innovative, interdisciplinary exhibitions and events.

Greek filmmakers at the Passport Controll Summer Workshop

Two Greek filmmakers will come to this year's Passport Controll - Summer Art Workshops and Community Gathering, to lead film workshop for students. Film director Karina Logothetis and sound designer Vasilis Zlatanos won the award for the Most Original Short Film at the 33rd edition of the Mediawave Film Festival this year, with their short fiction Pebble.
