FROM THE 30 YEARS OF MEDIAWAVE FESTIVAL/GATHERING

We started to collect our regular guests and community members' memories during the 29th Gathering. In the morning of the second day after the announcement of the emergency, Gábor Boka - our long-time basic partner - called me and told about his idea of starting a so called Decameron club in his vilage. During our long conversation, the "Decameron idea" became to form and Gábor gladly handed this idea to us to help to process the emergency mentally. It is also a great way of collecting memories from the last 30 years. Most of us probably think of Boccaccio's blithesome stories at first, becausewe are less stuck with the frame story. Shortly, seven women and three men flee from a plague in Florence to a rural castle, where they spend their time with telling stories. 

This is a trial to process the fear caused by the epidemic, that was once lost in reading, but today is a living reality and it is worth considering that in today's threat we must also protect ourselves from being infiltrated by the killer virus. 

"Decameron idea" might be a kind of solution for this present situation. An idea that is not new for Italy, the now most devastated country in Europe. In the current quarantine situation, they have began to practice various old community customs through the power of the internet. They are doing this to strengthen their togetherness in separation, as well. If the Italians were able to process the misery then and now, perhaps it might be worth for us trying to do so. the 30th anniversary of our Gathering might be appropriate to be the basis of our "Virtual Gathering" being born during the emergency.

We are diverse, we sense and senzitized in so many different ways.We've been told a lot of opinions and stories, but unfortunately they have disappeared in the whirl, so it's high time to record them in writtenn or oral form. If you would like to tell your story through skype or any other way, we are eager to record it. We are also waiting for photos and videos that are free for us to release with comments.

Light Guards - Komárom / Mediawave

The 29. International Film and Music Gathering took place between 30. April and 4. May 2019 in Komárom Fortress. The Light Guard visits Komárom with the help of writers and bookworms and gives an insight into the history of the festival, as well. The Hungarian writer, Mikszáth also wrote about getting on the road (and arrival of festival visitors):
