PRESTIGEOUS JURIES AT THE MEDIAWAVE FESTIVAL


 

Competition Films of MEDIAWAVE, similarly to the previous years, will to be assessed by high appreciated jury members.

Members of feature film and international juries, such as the Academy awarded American editor, the Golden Palm of Cannes awarded Hungarian director, the famous British animator – awarded several times for his sarcastic humour –, the multiple times awarded Bulgarian documentary film director, the famous Hungarian actress and the great Romanian cinematographer come from five countries and different areas of film industry.

Three members of Student Jury will also award one of the films.

Members of Short and Feature Film Juries

 

   

 

Alan HEIM (USA)

One of the most famous editors in the world; won Oscar for All that Jazz in 1980. Has worked with famous directors, such as Milos Forman, Nick Cassavetes, Martha Coolidge, John Hughes and Stephen Frears.


Júlia NYAKÓ (HUN)

Actress; won Best Acting Award for László Lugossy’s We’re fine, thanks in 1981. In 1999 she won Best Acting Award of Mediawave for Lamm and given Hungarian Film Critics Choice award for Fresh Air in 2006.


Vivie Dragan VASILE (ROM)

Romanian film director; has photographed 50 films; awarded several times; has participated in Mediawave jury work many times.

Phil MULLOY (UK)

Regular guest of Mediawave: was a jury member, his films have been selected several times into the competition section; awarded twice. This year he is going to be given the third one of Parallel Cultural Awards, among others.


Péter MÉSZÁROS (HUN)

Director of several short films; awarded with Golden Palm for After Rain in Cannes, his film was screened at 50 festivals.


Andrey PAUNOV
(BUL)

Was tavern-keeper in Prague, gardener in Toronto, cook in Washington, boom operator in New York and accountant in San Francisco. Graduated in National Theatre and Film Academy of Sofia in 2000. His first documentary, Georgi and the Butterflies was shown at 50 festivals; awarded Silver Wolf Prize at IDFA and at other international film festivals for 12 times.

Kati BESSENYEI

Animation director; she studies intermiedia at the Hungarian University of Art.

   

Nóra Kinga FORGÁCS

She studies film history and theory at the ELTE University in Budapest.

Film critic, journalist, editor of the film section of prae.hu

   

Dorottya KIS

She studies at the film department of the University of Miskolc. She works on the bordeline between visual antropology and dokumentary film making.
